Motivational T Shirt

Each year we try to come up with some new motivational things for the team. One of the items we are using this year is a team T shirt. On the front of the shirt we have Lombardi's Quote: Any man's finest hour is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and he is exhausted on the field of battle. . . VICTORIOUS! On the back of the shirt we have a picture of our field and stadium. Our stadium is unique. there is not track around our field and the stands are right on the sidelines - just like the NFL. In addition, we have a nine foot hedge that encloses three sides of the field. We do not go between the hedges like Georgia, we go "Inside The Hedges." We contracted an aerial photographer and selected a shot. I scanned it into my computer and digitally enhanced it, straightened out posts etc., took out some flaws, and added field markings.

We took the pic to a copy center and got the pic copied onto a T shirt transfer, took the transfers to a local outfit that had a heat press and got them put on the shirts.

When we went to the Washington State Football Camp each camper got a T shirt and a pair of mesh shorts. They were well received. The kids liked the idea that they had "their" field on the shirt and not some generic clone of a field or stadium.

The shirts and shorts are extremely popular. Especially with the younger players. They wear them "with pride" everywhere. In fact, I see them so much I wonder when they get washed. We have extra shirts that we are going to sell to the student body and the community.

In years past I have used other ideas for T shirts. One very popular idea was the Nail Shirt. On the front of the shirt I had this definition:

I introduced the "Nail" concept to the team with a newsletter that contained the following statement:

The back of the T shirt looked like this:

Another year we got the returning lettermen to dress up like a Rock & Roll Band, posed in a theater with instruments along with the cheerleaders as back up singers, took the pic, made a transfer for the front. On the back we printed our our schedule and made it a Rock & Roll Tour, just like they would get at a concert. Whatever works . . .

What are your motivational ideas for T shirts? We like original work that includes the kids in some way, not some cloned idea that is mass marketed . . . unless it is exceptionally good.
