From Championship Training S.E.T. for Success Class today comes this thought:

You have heard of Murphy's Law - Now hear Freeb's Law:

If anything good can happen, it will happen!

And the best possible thing that can happen will happen.

Life is a game of choices. Which do you choose?

Of course Murphy's Law states that if anything can go wrong it will, and the worst possible thing that can happen will happen. Most often it's all in a state of mind. It's a matter of ATTITUDE. Attitudes are contagious, are yous worth catching?

Our good friend Carol Hester from South Carolina sent me a handout on "Commitment as a Christian." I liked it so much that I adapted it to "My Commitment as a Ranger." Perhaps you can modify it to fit your program. Here it is:

My Commitment as a Ranger

I'm part of the fellowship of the truly committed. I have that Ranger Competitive Spirit Power. The dye has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. Im a Disciple of Success. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.

My past is history, my present makes sense, my future is determined. I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded.I have mobilized my forces, am supported by teammates, walk by patience, am elevated by effort and know that what is due me will catch up to me, drawn along in the jet stream, the forward motion of my hard work.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is the Championship, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission dear. I have decided to Ride The High Places. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversaries, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, meander in the maze of mediocrity, wander in the deserts of doubt, or be lost in the murky swamp of I don't know.

I wont give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stared up, pumped up, paid up, practiced up for the cause. I am a disciplined perseverer. I have a plan to make it happen, give till I drop, preach till all know, Crusade for our success and refuse to lose. No matter how long it takes, no matter how hard it is, no matter how much it costs, no matter what I have to personally sacrifice, I'll do whatever it takes to achieve my goals. The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny. I will Never, Never Quit. I am committed to my own success and the success of my teammates. Together Everyone Achieves More. I will help them sing their song and they mine.

Yes, I am a truly committed Ranger. Join me in the Quest For Greatness. Let us Ride The High Places together as we reach for the stars.

The Quote for the Day today is from Tom Flores "A Total Commitment is paramount to reaching the ultimate in Performance." This leads to a discussion about Commitment. We like to say that you can either have commitment or be committed. Of course, people ARE COMMITTED to mental hospitals and prisions in our society. We would rather have commitment and succeed.

In discussing commitment we point out that there are people, even teachers and coaches, who arrive late leave early, and do as little as possible while they are there. (It just so happened that in walks a kids right at that time late to class.) There are also people who arrive early, leave late and do as much as they possibly can. The question becomes which would you have or like to have working for you?

We then have a discussion on what is Total Commitment? Which is the perfect lead in for the Plaque that we have on commitment. I have this page posted on the Football Faxuals message board at http://www.sportsonly.com/a/7654/ (scroll down)

That is a really good statement for what Total Commitment is all about.

After writing in the Journal, class continued with an in depth look and study of the Attitude Chapter handed out previously in the week.

Really stressing several things: 1. "You can absolutely prevent failure with the right mental attitude" 2. Attitude is a choice 3. Everyday we choose to be - good/bad, clean/dirty, pure/rancid, powerful/weak. positive/weak.
